The Institute publishes research and commentary to bring practical knowledge into the decisions shaping America’s industrial future. These principles apply to submissions and editorial decisions.
Independent editorial judgment
The Institute retains control of its research agenda, selection, editing, and conclusions. Financial support, membership, or participation does not purchase favorable coverage, predetermined findings, or publication. An author’s views do not necessarily represent every director, advisor, supporter, or other contributor.
Evidence and accuracy
Authors should distinguish verified facts, estimates, interpretation, and opinion. Material factual claims should be traceable to reliable sources, with primary sources used where available. Quotations, data, citations, and descriptions of events must be accurate. Fabricated sources, quotations, interviews, credentials, or findings are unacceptable. Authors remain responsible for verifying any work developed with automated tools.
Originality, permissions, and disclosures
Submit work you wrote or are authorized to provide. Identify prior publication, coauthors, third-party material, and any permissions or license restrictions. Disclose relevant employment, financial interests, funding, client relationships, and other circumstances that could affect a reader’s assessment. Do not disclose employer trade secrets, controlled information, confidential records, or identifiable personal information without appropriate authorization.
Pitch review and publication agreements
Sending a pitch allows The Institute to evaluate it and discuss it internally with relevant editorial reviewers. A submission does not transfer copyright, guarantee acceptance, establish exclusivity, or create a right to payment. Do not send confidential material unless confidentiality terms have been agreed in advance.
Before publication, the author and The Institute should confirm publication permission, attribution, editing arrangements, any compensation, and any exclusivity or reuse terms in writing. A separate agreement governs those matters. Acceptance of one piece does not commit The Institute to future publication.
Corrections and concerns
Send a specific concern to contact@iamtpolicy.org, identifying the publication, the disputed statement, and supporting evidence. The Institute may seek clarification from the author or relevant sources and determine whether a correction, clarification, update, or withdrawal is warranted. Substantive corrections should be identified transparently; routine spelling or formatting fixes need not receive a separate notice.
